The ransomware group BlackCat (ALPHV) claims to have infiltrated Henry Schein, a major player in the healthcare industry, and taken dozens of gigabytes of data, including shareholder and payroll information.
With operations and affiliates in 32 countries, Henry Schein is a Fortune 500 provider of healthcare solutions, expected to generate over $12 billion in revenue in 2022.
The company said on October 15 that, the day before, a cyberattack had affected its manufacturing and distribution operations, forcing it to take several systems offline in order to control it.
“Some of Henry Schein’s business activities have been temporarily disrupted as a result of the immediate precautionary measures Henry Schein took to control the problem, including bringing some systems down. The Company is making every effort to find a quick solution,” it stated.
