Breaking: OpenAI’s Powerful “Deep Research” Feature Coming to Free ChatGPT Users Very Soon

# OpenAI’s Deep Research Coming to Free Users Soon

OpenAI has announced that its powerful AI research assistant, Deep Research, will soon be available to all ChatGPT users, including those on the free tier. Currently exclusive to Plus, Teams, Enterprise, and Education subscribers, this expansion marks a significant democratization of advanced AI research capabilities.

## What is Deep Research?

Deep Research functions as an autonomous AI agent that handles comprehensive research tasks independently. After receiving a prompt, it searches the internet to find relevant information, analyzes data, and cross-verifies findings across millions of websites to produce thorough reports.

“If you haven’t tried deep research, it’s available now for Pro, Teams, Enterprise and EDU users, and we’ll launch to free very soon,” stated Isa Fulford, Member of Technical Staff at OpenAI, during a recent webcast.

## How to Use Deep Research

Once available, users can access Deep Research by:
1. Opening chatgpt.com
2. Starting a new conversation
3. Activating the Deep Research toggle in the message composer
4. Entering a research query (e.g., “Create a report on obesity and its causes or effects”)

The tool then automatically generates comprehensive search queries and delivers organized results.

## Current Limitations

Plus subscribers currently receive 10 Deep Research queries per month, with follow-up messages and modifications not counting against this limit. OpenAI has not yet specified whether free users will receive the same allocation or a reduced number of monthly queries.

The exact rollout date for free users has not been announced, but OpenAI indicated it will share more details soon.
