NVIDIA has acknowledged a significant performance issue affecting gaming systems running its newly released NVIDIA App. Users have reported up to 15% decrease in gaming performance when the Game Filters option is enabled.
The company has provided a temporary solution, recommending users to:
1. Disable Game Filters through NVIDIA App Settings > Features > Overlay > Game Filters and Photo Mode
2. Restart their games
Despite this workaround, many users report persistent issues even after disabling the overlays and filters, leading some to completely uninstall the application. Independent testing by Tom’s Hardware confirmed the performance impact, noting that the 15% decrease is comparable to the performance gap between standard GPU models and their higher-end Ti variants.
The NVIDIA App, officially launched in mid-November for Windows 10 and 11 systems with NVIDIA GPUs, was designed to:
– Maintain GeForce Game Ready and NVIDIA Studio drivers
– Provide optimal settings for over 1000 games
– Integrate features from GeForce Experience and RTX Experience
– Offer rewards through optional login
NVIDIA is actively investigating the issue and working on a permanent solution for affected users.
