Outlook's Frustrating Copy-Paste Freeze Finally Fixed by Microsoft

Microsoft Resolves Critical Outlook Copy-Paste Issue

Microsoft has successfully addressed a significant issue that caused the classic Outlook email client to freeze when users attempted to copy text using CTRL+C. The problem primarily impacted Microsoft 365 users running Current Channel Version 2409 (Build 18025.20096) or higher, particularly affecting those using languages with Input Method Editor (IME).

The Fix and Deployment Schedule:
– Beta Channel users can access the fix in Version 2501 (Build 18410.15040)
– Current Channel Preview users will receive the update later this month
– Current Channel: Expected release on 1/27/25 (Version 2501)
– Monthly Enterprise Channel: Scheduled for 3/11/25 (Version 2501)

Temporary Solutions:
For users awaiting the update, Microsoft provides two workarounds:
1. Reverting to a previous IME version through Settings > IME settings
2. Rolling back Outlook to an earlier build using Command Prompt commands:
– cd %programfiles%\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\ClickToRun
– officec2rclient.exe /update user updatetoversion=16.0.17928.20156

This resolution follows recent fixes for other Microsoft 365 issues, including Gmail sign-in problems and application crashes in Outlook, Word, Excel, and OneNote. The company continues to address stability concerns across its Office suite to ensure smooth user experience.
