Microsoft has successfully addressed a significant issue causing Remote Desktop sessions to freeze on Windows Server 2025 and Windows 11 24H2 devices. The problem, which rendered mouse and keyboard inputs unresponsive during sessions, has been fixed through recent updates.

For Windows 11 systems, the solution was implemented on February 25 via the KB5052093 optional update. Windows Server 2025 devices received the fix through the KB5055523 Patch Tuesday cumulative update released on April 8.

“After installing the February 2025 Security update (KB5051987) and later updates on Windows Server 2025 devices, users experienced Remote Desktop sessions freezing shortly after connection,” Microsoft explained. The company recommends installing the latest updates, which contain critical improvements and issue resolutions.

Last month, Microsoft deployed a Known Issue Rollback (KIR) to address similar Remote Desktop and RDS connection problems on Windows 11 24H2 systems. These issues, occurring since January 2025, caused disconnections lasting up to 65 seconds when establishing UDP connections from Windows 11 24H2 PCs to RDS hosts on Windows Server 2016 systems.

Additionally, Microsoft announced the resolution of a persistent bug causing blue screen errors and installation issues on Windows Server 2025 systems with over 256 logical processors. This fix was included in updates released since the KB5046617 cumulative update from November’s Patch Tuesday.

The company also recently acknowledged two other issues: Windows Hello login problems after April 2025 security updates, and connectivity failures on some Windows Server 2025 domain controllers after restarts.
